The Law Office of Deborah K. Schaal is a small law firm in Rochester, New York which focuses on providing legal representation to individuals and businesses on real estate and bankruptcy matters. We strive to give you the highest quality legal service personalized to your individual needs. Our reputation is based on 30 years of experience during which we have handled with skill some of the most challenging legal problems our colleagues in other firms have referred to us.

Deborah Schaal is admitted to practice law in New York State, in the Bankruptcy Courts and District Courts in the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western Districts of New York, and in the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals. She is a past co-chair of the Monroe County Bar Association’s bankruptcy committee, and is a past board member of the Greater Rochester Association of Women Attorneys. She has lectured at numerous Continuing Legal Education seminars on various bankruptcy topics.

She received her bachelor’s degree in business management with distinction from Cornell University in 1988, and graduated cum laude from Cornell Law School in 1991. She lives in Rochester with her husband and daughters.

We have an active real estate practice. We have helped hundreds of families buy and sell homes in the Greater Rochester area, acting as closing attorneys and legal advisors to help navigate the important decisions affecting the purchase and sale of homes, condominiums and townhomes. As with all of our legal services, you will be working directly with an attorney who will be personally familiar with your file and dedicated to making your transaction go smoothly. We are here to answer your questions and to work through any difficulties that arise. We charge competitive rates and generally no fee is owed unless and until the deal closes.

BANKRUPTCY SERVICES FOR CREDITORS

We help protect creditors’ rights in bankruptcy courts across New York State. We have a network of attorneys to appear in each court to ensure the quick and efficient disposition and release of assets. Whether a creditor needs relief from the automatic stay to repossess a car or needs effective representation in objecting to plan provisions which undermine or undervalue its collateral, we have the knowledge and resources to get results. We have tailored our creditor practice to the local and specific rules of each bankruptcy court as we know the local rules and practice vary from city to city and from judge to judge. Our rates are reasonable and we are able to handle matters big and small with professional, experienced counsel. We also appear regularly as local counsel for out of town law firms in courts throughout Monroe County, including appearances in Supreme Court and Bankruptcy Court, on foreclosure and bankruptcy matters.
